Pink-sand beaches, turquoise coves and two or three full days docked in port — everything you need to plan a Bermuda cruise from the Northeast.

A Bermuda cruise is the easiest island getaway for New England travelers: no flight, a short sail from Boston or New York, and a ship that usually stays docked for two or three days so you can actually explore. Most sailings run 5 to 7 nights between spring and fall on Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC, Carnival and Princess.

Sailing from New England? Bermuda is one of the few island cruises you can take without flying. Drive or take the train to Boston, or head to New York or Cape Liberty in Bayonne, NJ, and you are at sea the same afternoon. See New York vs. Boston departures.

Bermuda’s capital, with Front Street shopping, restaurants and harbor views. Reached by ferry from Dockyard; only smaller ships dock here.

A UNESCO World Heritage town founded in 1612, with cobbled lanes, historic churches and Tobacco Bay nearby. Served by ferry from Dockyard in season.

Getting Around Bermuda

Visitors can’t rent regular cars in Bermuda. Instead, use the public ferries from Dockyard to Hamilton and St. George’s, the island’s pink-and-blue public buses, taxis, or small electric rental cars and scooters where available. Transportation passes cover both buses and ferries and are the easiest option for cruise guests. Lines for buses at Dockyard can be long when several ships are in, so head out early or take the ferry. More in Bermuda cruise tips.

Choosing a Cabin for Bermuda

Bermuda sailings cross open Atlantic water, including the Gulf Stream, so motion-sensitive cruisers should pick a mid-ship cabin on a lower or middle deck. Because the ship is docked for days, a balcony doubles as a private retreat in port. Ocean-view and interior cabins are good value since you’ll spend most of your time ashore.

What a Bermuda Cruise Costs

Bermuda fares are usually higher per night than short Caribbean cruises, but you save on flights when you sail from the Northeast. On the island, food, drinks and taxis are expensive, so many guests eat on the ship and use transport passes. Beach days are cheap; snorkel tours, boat trips and private taxis add up.
