Beach & Pool

  • 2-3 swimsuits
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • Water shoes for rocky or reef-adjacent beaches
  • A packable dry bag for excursions

Clothing

  • Lightweight, breathable daywear
  • One or two dressier outfits for formal nights
  • A light layer for onboard air conditioning

Documents & Extras

Skip: Heavy layers and excess formalwear — most Caribbean itineraries are casual outside of one or two elegant nights.

The Complete Caribbean Packing Checklist

Documents & Essentials (Carry-On)

  • Passport book (strongly recommended even on closed-loop sailings) or birth certificate plus government photo ID
  • Cruise documents, luggage tags and boarding pass in the cruise line’s app
  • Prescription medications in original containers, plus seasickness remedies
  • Credit card registered to your onboard account and some small U.S. bills
  • Swimsuit, sunscreen and sunglasses for embarkation afternoon

Clothing

  • Lightweight shorts, sundresses and breathable tops (plan on one outfit per day plus a spare)
  • Two swimsuits so one can dry
  • A cover-up and flip-flops for the pool deck
  • Walking sandals or water shoes for rocky beaches and snorkeling
  • One or two dressier outfits for formal or “evening chic” nights; see what to pack for formal night
  • A light sweater; dining rooms and theaters are air-conditioned
  • A packable rain jacket for tropical showers

Sun & Beach

  • Reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 30+) — required in some destinations
  • Wide-brim hat and polarized sunglasses
  • Insulated water bottle
  • Waterproof phone pouch and a small dry bag
  • Personal snorkel mask if you snorkel often (rental gear fit varies)

Cabin Helpers

  • Magnetic hooks (cabin walls are metal) for hats and bags
  • Non-surge-protected power strip or USB cube; surge protectors are banned on ships
  • Over-the-door shoe organizer for toiletries and small items
  • Night light and a small fan if you like white noise

What Not to Pack

  • Surge-protected power strips, irons and steamers (prohibited)
  • Candles or anything with an open flame
  • Beach towels — the ship provides them for port days
  • Too many shoes; three pairs (sandals, walking shoes, dress shoes) is plenty
