Our Recommendations

  • Best weather: January through March
  • Best value: fall and spring repositioning voyages
  • Combining with Alaska: spring northbound sailings, then an Alaska cruise
  • Holiday trip: December and New Year’s sailings, booked a year ahead

About the Rainy Season

“Rainy” in Panama usually means hot mornings and heavy afternoon showers, not all-day rain. Transit days still proceed normally, and the canal operates year-round. Pack a rain jacket and plan outdoor viewing for the morning.

When to Book

Panama Canal sailings are less frequent than Caribbean or Alaska cruises, and the best cabins on dry-season departures go early. Aim for 9–15 months ahead. We’ll watch the fare after you book and apply eligible drops.
