Bermuda Cruise Packing Guide
Beach days, breezy sea days and a dressier island culture: what to pack for a Bermuda cruise from the Northeast.
The Bermuda twist: you leave from a cool Northeast port, cross open ocean, and arrive somewhere warm. Pack for both ends of the trip, plus a jacket for windy sea days.
Bermuda Packing Checklist
Beach
Swim & Sun
Two swimsuits, cover-up, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, a wide-brim hat and water shoes for rocky coves.
Sea Days
Layers
A light jacket or fleece for the first and last sea days, which can be cool and windy, especially in spring and fall.
Ashore
Town Clothes
Bermuda is relatively conservative: save swimwear for the beach and wear a shirt and shorts or a sundress in town.
Getting Around
Day Bag Basics
A small backpack, refillable water bottle, phone charger and cash or a card for buses, ferries and taxis.
What to Pack by Season
| Season | Weather | Pack |
|---|---|---|
| April–May | Mild, breezy; ocean still cool | Light sweater, long pants, rash guard if swimming |
| June–August | Hot and humid, warm water | Breathable fabrics, extra swimwear, high-SPF sunscreen |
| September–October | Warm, occasional storms | Compact rain jacket, quick-dry clothing |
| November | Cooler, windy | Fleece, closed-toe shoes, layers for sea days |
Don’t Forget
- Passport (recommended) or birth certificate and government photo ID for closed-loop sailings.
- Motion-sickness remedies; the Gulf Stream crossing can be bumpy.
- Snorkel mask if you have one; rentals are available but your own fits better.
- A dressier outfit for formal or elegant nights on the ship.
- Small bills; U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere at par with the Bermuda dollar.
Leave at Home
- Heavy winter coats: a packable layer is enough.
- Camouflage clothing, which is restricted for civilians in some countries; it’s simplest to skip it.
- Too many shoes: water shoes, sandals and one pair of walking shoes cover most days.
