Bermuda Cruise from New York vs. Boston
Which departure port makes more sense for a Bermuda cruise from New England: Boston, Manhattan, Brooklyn or Cape Liberty?
Both Boston and the New York area offer drive-to Bermuda cruises with no flights. Boston is closer for most New Hampshire and New England travelers. New York has far more sailings and ship choices. Here’s how they compare.
Side-by-Side Comparison
| Boston | New York Area | |
|---|---|---|
| Terminals | Flynn Cruiseport Boston (South Boston) | Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, Cape Liberty (Bayonne, NJ) |
| From Southern NH | About 1 to 1.5 hours by car | About 4 to 5 hours by car, or train |
| Number of sailings | Fewer, mostly Norwegian in season | Many, across most major lines |
| Sea time to Bermuda | Slightly longer crossing | About a day and a half each way |
| Typical length | 7 nights | 5 to 8 nights |
| Best for | Easiest trip from New England | Most choice of ships, dates and prices |
Sailing from Boston
Boston’s Flynn Cruiseport is a short drive from Manchester and southern New Hampshire, with on-site parking and easy rideshare access. Bermuda sailings from Boston are usually 7 nights with two or three days docked at the Royal Naval Dockyard. Because the choice is smaller, popular summer dates sell out early.
Sailing from New York
New York offers the widest Bermuda choice. Norwegian and MSC often sail from Manhattan or Brooklyn, while Royal Caribbean and Celebrity typically use Cape Liberty in Bayonne. Sailing past the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline is a highlight. Plan for a pre-cruise hotel and either parking or train travel.
Other East Coast Ports
Bermuda cruises also leave from Baltimore, Norfolk, Philadelphia and, occasionally, Florida. These add sea days and travel time from New England but can open up extra dates or lines. We’ll compare them for you if your preferred dates aren’t available from Boston or New York.
