Norwegian offers something most lines don’t: solo studios with no single supplement, and a true ship-within-a-ship suite complex called The Haven. Here’s what each cabin category gets you and where to book on the ship.
Cabin categories
Studios (solo travelers)
Studios are compact cabins designed and priced for one person, with no single supplement. Studio guests share a private lounge with a bar and TV, so they’re a great way to meet other solo travelers. They’re found on Breakaway, Breakaway Plus, Epic and Prima-class ships.
Inside
Inside cabins are the lowest fare. On older ships they can be small, so check square footage.
Oceanview
Oceanview cabins have a window but no balcony. They’re a smart buy on Canada and New England or Bermuda sailings, where balcony weather isn’t guaranteed.
Balcony
Balcony cabins are standard on Caribbean sailings. On Prima-class ships, most balconies are larger and the cabins feel more modern.
Club Balcony Suites and Mini-Suites
These rooms add space and some suite perks. Mini-suites have a bigger bathroom and a sitting area, while Club Balcony Suites add priority boarding and more.
The Haven
The Haven is a keycard-only complex of suites with its own restaurant, lounge, pool and sun deck, plus butler and concierge service. It gives you a luxury-line feel with mega-ship amenities a few steps away. Haven fares are significantly higher, but often less than booking a luxury line.
Where to book
- Midship, mid-level decks for the least motion
- Aft-facing balconies on Breakaway and Prima class for big wake views
- Avoid cabins directly below the pool deck, the go-kart track (Prima and Breakaway Plus) and late-night venues
The Norwegian Epic quirk
Epic’s cabins have a split bathroom design, with the toilet and shower in separate stalls near the bed area. It’s fine for couples but not ideal for families or friends sharing a cabin. Check the layout before booking.
More at Sea perks by cabin
Higher cabin categories usually get more specialty dining meals with More at Sea. Make sure More at Sea is included in your fare before comparing prices. See More at Sea explained.
FAQ
Is The Haven worth it?
For special occasions and families who want a private pool area, often yes. Price it against a mini-suite plus specialty dining before deciding.
Does Norwegian charge single supplements?
Not in studios. Standard cabins booked for one person usually carry a supplement.
