Celebration Key Guide: Carnival’s New Private Destination

Celebration Key opened in July 2025 on Grand Bahama Island. It’s Carnival’s newest and largest private destination, and it now appears on many Bahamas, Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Here’s how to plan your day.

Layout: the “portals”

From the pier, guests walk to Paradise Plaza, then branch into themed areas:

  • Calypso Lagoon: a family area with a large freshwater lagoon, beach and waterslides
  • Starfish Lagoon: adults only, with a swim-up bar and the Lokey’s lounge vibe
  • Pearl Cove Beach Club: an upscale, extra-cost beach club with an infinity pool and cabanas
  • Lokono Cove: a marketplace featuring Bahamian artisans and shops

What’s free

  • The lagoons and beaches, with loungers
  • Kids’ splash areas and waterslides
  • Complimentary food at island dining spots
  • The walk from the pier. Ships dock right at Celebration Key, so there’s no tendering.

What costs extra

  • Pearl Cove Beach Club entry
  • Cabanas and clamshells
  • Some water activities
  • All drinks. CHEERS! packages do not work here.

Drinks and money

Celebration Key is cashless; use your Sail & Sign card. Drinks run roughly $3 for water, $9 for beer and $12–$13 for cocktails. Since CHEERS! doesn’t apply ashore, a private-island day is a good reason to rethink buying the package for the whole cruise.

How to plan the day

  1. Walk off early. The plaza gets busy fast.
  2. Families should head to Calypso Lagoon, while adults pick Starfish Lagoon.
  3. Book cabanas or Pearl Cove in advance if you want them. They sell out.
  4. Eat lunch on the island, then return to the ship before the late rush.

Half Moon Cay

Carnival also visits Half Moon Cay, its long-time private island on Little San Salvador. It’s quieter, with a beautiful crescent beach and horseback riding.
