MSC’s prices often look like the best deal in the Caribbean, and they can be. But MSC is a European line, and a few things work differently from U.S.-based brands. Knowing them up front is the difference between a great trip and a frustrating one.
What feels different
- International crowds: announcements may be in several languages, especially in Europe.
- Dining style: more European flavors, plus excellent pizza and pasta.
- Water isn’t free in the dining room on most fares. Tap water is free at the buffet.
- Fare tiers matter: what’s included depends on your experience level (see our cabin guide).
Before you sail
- Download the MSC for Me app for check-in, reservations and the daily program.
- Book specialty dining, shows that require reservations, and excursions in advance.
- Decide on a drink package before boarding. See MSC drink packages.
Dining
The main dining rooms use assigned early or late seating on most fares. Higher tiers may offer flexible dining. The buffet is large and open long hours. Specialty restaurants, such as Butcher’s Cut steakhouse, Kaito teppanyaki and Hola! Tacos, cost extra.
Dress code
Casual by day. Gala nights (usually two per week) see many guests dress up, so bring one nicer outfit.
Kids
MSC’s kids’ clubs are strong and partner with LEGO and other brands. In many seasons, MSC runs kids sail free promotions, where children pay only taxes and fees in the same cabin. That makes MSC one of the cheapest options for families.
Money onboard
Register a credit card for your onboard account. A daily service charge is added automatically.
First-timer tips
- Read exactly what your fare tier includes before you pay.
- Bring a refillable bottle and use the buffet water stations.
- Expect busier embarkation than on smaller lines, and arrive at your assigned time.
- Look for Ocean Cay itineraries for the best beach day.
